On June 6th, the 3rd lecturing competition award-giving ceremony is being held in Law School of Hunan University. This ceremony gives Excellent Teaching Prize to its winners for the ever first time. Dean of Law School, Professor Qu Maohui, CPC Secretary of Law School, Li Lianyou, former Dean of Law School, Liu Dinghua and Professor Du Gangjian and our well-known Professor Li Liangdong are all present in the ceremony. Assistant CPC Secretary, Professor Wang Xiaoye is in charge of the hosting.

At the beginning, Assistant Dean of Law School, Professor Nie Zilu reads us the judging standard and the final list. Within the list, Chen Jinhong, Luo Jing, Luo Xiliang and Wu Bin win the Excellent Teaching Prize and eight other teachers including Luo Jing, Wu Bin get publicly praised in the Lecturing Competition. After that, in order to express their gratitude for the teachers, the student representatives of each grade make the award-giving announcement written on their own. Having heard that words, Chen Jinhong sigh with emotion that with the teaching career of 28 years, though making little achievement in research, Chen is so proud of being able to pass down the knowledge to the students with care and effort. Chen is much appreciated by the approval from the students and is sure that every effort of our teachers will be paid off. Another teacher Luo Jing says ever since she arrived at Law School of Hunan University in 1996, she has been carefully preparing for the class and giving lectures all the time, and the acknowledgement from the student will be her great comfort and encouragement. The outstanding youth teacher of Law School, Wu Bin is grateful for the attention given to the lecturing teachers and holding the competition to encourage them under the circumstance that much the emphasis is laid on doing research nationwide.

After the teachers’ words, Professor Liu Dinghua expresses his opinions that currently, there is a common phenomenon that many universities diverts their focus of evaluating the teachers to the research attainment sides rather to the fundamental teaching skill and ability. The reason why they organize the competition and awarding the teachers is that they are indicative of their highly emphasis on the teaching quality. Professor Liu hopes that this evaluating system can be kept in the future so that more teachers will be encouraged to deliver good quality lectures to the students.

The success of this competition shows the concern to the teaching quality and it also gives much inspirations to the up warding teachers. It is widely believed that the high level teaching quality and the sound students-teachers relationship will make our Law School better.
